Aaron Eckstein, the 16-year-old Hidden Valley men's club champion, fired an opening round 1-under 71 at Hanging Rock Golf Club to share the lead after the first round of the men's Roanoke Valley Golf Hall of Fame. Tony Montgomery of The Westlake and Roanoke Country Club's Chris Clemens, the reigning Roanoke Valley Match Play Champion, also shot 71.
One shot back at 72 were Andy Foster (Blue Hills), Chris Gibson (The Waterfront) and Jack Allara and Roy Foutz of Hidden Valley.
